Why I Built This
My four children are grown now, and they turned out all right. But looking back, I saw lessons I wish I'd known how to teach them. So I started writing them letters, one for each lesson I wished I'd taught.
For more than 30 years, I taught, guided, mentored, and advocated for thousands of young people. I led a small learning community of about 300 students, most of them juniors and seniors facing situations that were often hard, sometimes dire. I listened to their fears, their mistakes, and their hopes, all while raising children of my own. Then I realized other parents were standing exactly where I had stood.
The letters became conversations, and the conversations became this course: ten of them, because those are the ones I believe matter most before a teen leaves home. It isn't only about preparing your teen for school. It's about preparing them for life.
My goal is simple: help you teach today what your teen may need tomorrow.
